Indigenous Centric Services Working Group

This project is designed to support the Truth and Reconciliation Commissioner’s Call to Action #17 calling upon all levels of government to enable claiming on Indigenous names, including the use of diacritics and mononyms, in official documents such as:

birth certificates
passports
driver’s licenses
health cards
status cards, and
social insurance numbers.

This first Phase will set the stage for Phase II and will help to identify how to best to organize working groups within the Joint Councils to ensure effectiveness of pan-Canadian initiatives.
